Chris Williams of Lafayette is no longer the Region IV director of the Louisiana Technical College.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System announced Wednesday that Williams accepted a position as director of corporate training in the system's Workforce Training and Development Unit.

The announcement came a day after system President Walter Bumphus told The Daily Advertiser that Williams was working on special projects at the Baton Rouge location but that his position was not vacant.

Bumphus said Wednesday that the system board met Wednesday and approved the lateral transfer, which is the same position he spoke about on Tuesday.
Jimmy Sawtelle, system vice president for career and technical education, will oversee operations in Region IV until the board and system president can determine the appropriate action.

Bumphus said Williams' transfer is not related to controversy surrounding the Lafayette City-Parish Council on which Williams serves.

Williams pleaded no contest in September to misdemeanor charges for writing in permanent marker on the council dais "Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Drive!"

COMMENTS

He's still an "idiot".

They will get tired of his antics and he'll move to another department down the road.

Hi jdelhomme,
I'm not so sure this is a promotion. Bumphus (sp?), his boss, said in one of the articles I read today that this was a lateral move. I'm not so sure about that...but what do I know.
